What you'll do

The Marketing Research team captures market-critical information that enables our commercial teams to make informed, high-impact business decisions daily. The Market Research Specialist supports these teams by carrying out continuous and ad-hoc research as directed by the relevant stakeholders. This individual will be provided with a specific mandate for ongoing research reports which will form the market research roadmap - on topics such as regulatory & legal landscape, market analysis, competitor analysis and strategic analysis across new products/markets and mergers & acquisition efforts.

This position needs must be proactive, passionate and possess a strong understanding of the market research landscape. They must also balance communication skills with critical thinking, project management and analytics. This individual must be able to work well with cross-functional teams, manage conflicting priorities, understand the bigger picture in the context of the work they are being asked to do, and can deal with some ambiguity.

  • Support the Director of Marketing Strategy & Services to recommend, develop and lead the execution of market research plans for assigned brands; including but not limited to:
    • Regulatory reports and case studies at a country level, including:
      • Highlighting regulatory implications of operating in such countries;
      • Risk & opportunity assessments for operating in countries;
    • Legal reports for countries
      • Reporting on advertising implications across verticals by market (including but not limited to: TV, social media, display and PPC legal landscapes);
  • New Market Opportunities: Monitor and advise on market developments while suggesting market opportunities for the group across existing or new verticals, including;
    • Provide market research reports on potential markets for penetration based on:
      • Keywords, SERP and search term analysis – in consultation with SEO team;
      • Competitor landscape;
      • Market size – including identifiable market segments;
      • Regulations;
  • Existing market support: provide ongoing market research reports, including:
    • Competitor landscape
      • New sites/competitors;
      • Existing competitor performance;
    • Market Size
      • Recognizable changes in our addressable market size;
      • Identifying addressable market segments for targeting;
  • Competitive Analysis: carry out specific reviews, including:
  • M&A Activity: Support our strategic operations and provide the information necessary to assist our strategic thinking and decision making, including:
  • Manage the day-to-day interface with key business partners including Business, Product and Development while also developing a network of 3rd parties to support scaling the company’s research capabilities and grow local knowledge.
  • Conduct regular qualitative and quantitative studies (e.g. ethnographies, focus groups) to better understand market segment portraits and relative competitive position in market;
  • Regulations;
  • Analysing SERP rankings for core keywords in consultation with SEO team;
  • Regular analysis of specific competitor sites;
  • Using 3rd parties to complement research;
  • Site performance;
  • Market opportunities & analysis;
  • Acquisition opportunities;
  • Competitor analysis;
  • Regulatory landscapes;
  • M&A Case studies;


What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience;
  • 5+ years of market research experience, preferably in an agency setting;
  • Demonstrable experience in monitoring and advising on market developments while suggesting market opportunities across existing or new verticals;
  • Experience with affiliate marketing or gaming considered an asset;
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a results-driven environment;
  • Able to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision;
  • Detail-obsessed, highly organized and driven to develop, plan and communicate complex marketing activities;
  • Resilient and able to respond under pressure;
  • Entrepreneurial;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize;
