Your mission

As a Junior BI Engineering Analyst, you will be responsible for providing insight and analysis into the performance of our delivery procedures and teams. You will combine your domain knowledge and experience of quantitative and statistical methods to ensure that our overall strategies become ‘data driven’ and that Sr. Managers & Directors are able to consume the reports and insights needed to align to key performance indicators.

You will be part of a team responsible for driving insight into the quality and efficiency of engineering projects, generating the insight to drive decision-making and informing development strategies. You will be required to support across many engineering teams covering several services. You will be able to understand software development concepts and terminology and interpret the data to report to leadership.

Working with other business units and stakeholders across the business you will combine data sources to provide a comprehensive overview of the health of the products, including their quality, system resilience and capacity of recovery

What you'll do

  • Define and measure business success, quality metrics, standards and reporting
  • Structure, analyze and report on performance from data extraction (SQL), to integration of new data sources and statistical analysis (R & Python) to visualization (Tableau or other visualization)
  • As part of the Business Intelligence team, develop and implement best practice methodologies for the quantitative analysis & visualization of data
  • Use of engineering data to generate insights on performance of services and teams
  • Along with the Director of Analytics and Sr. Managers, proactively structure analyses from hypothesis development to modelling to support commercial decisions and to influence the product roadmap
  • Work with Engineering to define and measure the key behaviors within services, identify key data points and how they relate to broader engineering strategies.
  • Perform hands-on analysis in support of business requests, including development of conclusions and recommendations 

What you'll bring

  • Degree educated or equivalent experience, preferably in a statistical/mathematical subject (Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or Operations Research)
  • Personable character and a good communicator – ability to communicate complex, technical concepts to non-technical staff
  • SQL, relational database knowledge, and Excel skills
  • Data manipulation and analysis skills
  • Experience in Business Intelligence, reporting & visualization tools (i.e. Tableau) an asset
