What you'll do

  • Design, deploy and support highly available and scalable distributed NoSQL databases for high volume transactions
  • Maintain and develop data models, structures, and procedures to ensure the integrity of all database components
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of mission critical databases
  • Set up replication across multiple geographically stretched data centers
  • Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, deployment etc.
  • Prepare crystal clear documentation and specifications, including database design and coding standards, best practices and training materials
  • Work closely with colleagues in Database Services and application development teams, and with business stakeholders.

What you'll bring

  • Demonstrated seniority and overall IT experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in the following (training or certification would be a plus):
    • Non-relational database administration (Cassandra and/or Elasticsearch)
    • Design and tuning of NoSQL databases
    • Use of Linux
  • Knowledge of:
    • Automation tools (Puppet, Ansible etc)
    • Code versioning tools (GIT, SVN etc)
    • Scripting languages or programming frameworks
    • Current industry standards and best practices
  • Non-technical:
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team
    • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
    • Open minded, willing to share knowledge and learn new skills
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or equivalent education
  • Experience of the following would be useful but is not essential:
    • System admin and tuning of Linux based servers
    • MySQL Database administration and/or development
    • MongoDB administration and/or development.
