Your mission
As a Data Analytics Engineer, you will be responsible for providing and maintaining high quality, trusted data sets for use by our Analysts. Using our Python server to build and deploy ETLs you will be the bridge between new or unstructured data sources and our Analytics team, helping them to define and track new metrics as needed to deliver business value.
You will work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements, design data pipelines, build data models, and develop Python ETL’s. You will also be responsible for maintaining and optimizing data infrastructure and ensuring data quality.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with team members to collect business requirements, define metrics and design data models.
- Build, deploy and maintain a set of ETL processes using Python & cron.
- Access and understand data from various sources including HDFS, Hive, Jira, Prometheus and many others.
- Define and implement best practices on to support a large set of ETL processes.
- Create & own unit testing covering the scope of maintained ETLs.
- Be the trusted point of contact when data modelling expertise is needed, providing code review and training to the team.
- Provide documentation on data models so that they can be quickly understood and used to deliver value by the analytics team.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies in data analytics and recommend improvements to existing systems and processes.
What you'll bring
- Be a driven learner, capable of identifying your own areas of self-development and then leveraging the team’s expertise to build your knowledge and skills.
- Strong Python skills, with a solid understanding of object orientated programming.
- Be a patient & capable teacher, able to effectively negotiate complex projects and deliver significant outcomes for senior, and potentially difficult, clients.
- Have proven experience of understanding and solving business problems.
- Be an experienced communicator, able to communicate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Experience creating data sources in Tableau (or a similar data visualization tool).
- SQL, relational database knowledge and Excel skills.
- Data manipulation & cleansing skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with a variety of data sources, including data lakes.
