Your mission
This is a superb opportunity for a talented Senior Communications Specialist to join the Marketing and Communications team within the Operations function at The Workshop, leading and managing communications across our offices globally. Working independently under the direction of the Marketing and Communications Manager, you’ll play a vital role in creating and executing communications strategies for a diverse range of employee campaigns and initiatives.
An energetic and enthusiastic individual, you’ll help drive communications and engagement initiatives across our international locations. This is an incredibly varied role supporting a wide range of internal brand, marketing and communications activity across the business, working with multiple stakeholders at all levels.
A prerequisite for this position is the ability to quickly digest often complex information to connect the dots and identify opportunities to drive business results through strategic communications. Superb interpersonal skills are vital for this role, and good teamwork is important for our business success.
This dynamic position requires the ability to anticipate needs and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. You’re not afraid to pick something up from scratch, work with the stakeholders to understand the intent, and ultimately deliver compelling, professional and onbrand communications. You’ll have experience in managing your time and your dependencies accordingly, yet also be able to pick up an urgent action with a tight deadline and still deliver. As a multifaceted all-rounder, you master versatile writing styles, audience needs and appreciate the importance of tone in communication.
What you'll do
Internal communication:
- Lead internal communication strategies and advise on complex change communications.
- Manage messaging for internal events and support change communications.
- Support the Marketing and Communications Manager with the execution of the internal communications and engagement strategy.
- Develop employer brand strategies for external events and oversee the social media strategy.
Content management:
- Create written content, in both long and short form, that reflects our tone of voice and helps bring our brand to life, engage employees internally, as well as attract top talent.
- Review and edit content copy created by others ensuring quality, clarity and tone-of-voice consistency.
- Create and manage a pipeline of content to our key communication channels.
Event management:
- Own the planning and execution of large internal events (e.g. leadership forums, staff conferences) and partner on external events.
- Oversee event-related merchandise planning and support cultural events and employee engagement campaigns.
Stakeholder collaboration:
- Work with colleagues to define and deliver content, ensuring all activities are aligned to our roadmap and the needs of the business.
- Leverage employee‐generated content and drive creative content creation initiatives.
- Meet with multiple stakeholders, including senior leadership, to tackle project briefs, understand audiences, gather requirements and offer communications advice and solutions.
- Build strong, trusting relationships and an effective network across the organisation, as well as external agencies and suppliers.
Culture & Inclusion:
- Develop strategies to integrate diversity and inclusion across communications and events.
- Advocate for a culture of belonging and work with cross-functional teams to reinforce inclusive practices.
- Develop CSR communication plans and oversee CSR-related events and internal initiatives.
- Lead community relations initiatives for industry, local and international events and drive charity initiative messaging.
What you'll bring
- An excellent communicator with the ability to communicate at all levels both through writing and verbally
- Proven experience of working within communications, specifically internal communications
- Experience of planning & executing communications campaigns across a variety of communications channels
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to write for different audiences and mediums (short and long-form) and the ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders
- A proven collaborative, self-starter who thrives in a positive, ideas-driven team, culture and environment
- Flexibility and ability to multi-task, manage own workload with a proven ability to oversee projects from start to finish, and prioritise work as required to meet deadlines
- Have creative, strategic and tactical thinking and execution skills, leading to consistently high-quality work with excellent attention to detail
- Have initiative, drive and be able to work independently, always reacting calmly and with good judgement in an often fast-paced environment
- Be a good networker, with the skills to interact confidently with people across the organisation and gain their trust, quickly proving yourself as a credible communications advisor
- Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel and other copy editing or authoring tools
- Innovative and creative thinking, with the ability to generate lots of new ideas
- Positive energy, a ‘can do’ attitude and a sense of humour – we work hard, but also like to have fun!
- Experience in the Tech sector, a start-up or rapidly growing business would be a bonus
- Native-level proficiency in English. Demonstrated through tertiary education in English or recognised certification (e.g., IELTS), with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
